KwikText is a free software program that makes collecting information, launching apps, and performing complicated tasks easier.
It provides quick access to files, folders, documents, notes, websites, passwords, software programs, utilities, and text clips. Even though they're available in other ways, KwikText lets you organize them in an intuitive fashion based on the way you think and work.
Any resource, no matter where located -- on local drives, network drives, or the Internet -- can be easily accessed with a few mouse clicks or key presses.
KwikText can act as a clipboard manager, typing assistant, bookmark manager, password manager, and application launcher.
Users drag computer resources into a tree structure that can be organized by project, task, category, sequence, priority, or even acquisition date.
All material is stored in plain text files, in an outline format, that can be easily edited, copied, and shared with others. These files can be stored on your computer, a network drive, or on a flash drive.
KwikText can be used by everyone. It is designed for home or office use, on single or networked computers.
Clipboard Manager/Typing Assistant
KwikText clipboard management is designed so you can reuse blocks of text wherever you want.
You can store clips of any size, from single lines to multiple paragraphs to entire documents.
You can add as many clips as you want. All material is stored in plain text files that you can edit, copy, paste, and share at any time.
You can store clips in multiple files. For example, you can keep separate files for specifications, contract provisions, informed consents, and email signatures. You can keep code snippets in different files depending on language.
The clipboard manager is especially useful for storing things like credit card numbers, serial numbers, passports, driver's licenses, product codes, and other complicated sequences of text.
Tree structure shows relationships and ownership: Text clips are displayed in a tree structure, so you can focus on specific types of clips for specific tasks. If you're writing software, display your code snippets. If you're writing contracts, display your contract paragraphs.
You can associate your clips with specific software programs, websites, folders, or files, so they'll be available just when you need them.
Easy to collect clips: You can drag and drop existing blocks of text into KwikText from documents or web pages, you can copy and paste, or you can just type them in.
You can label, tag, or describe each clip for easier access. Clip labels and content can be searched using symbols for Boolean AND and NOT.
A single click or keystroke sends a clip to the clipboard, ready for pasting. Single or multiple keystrokes can act as hotkeys to access any clip.
Paste clips into any document, spreadsheet, text file, web page input box, or any other software program that accepts pasting. Just click at a destination and press Ctrl-V.
Bookmarks are stored in plain text files, so you can easily edit, copy, email, or post them on web pages.
You can store bookmarks in single or multiple text files. Your storage capacity is virtually unlimited.
Each bookmarks file is displayed in a tree format. It is edited in a corresponding outline format. So you can easily organize and reorganize your bookmarks with ease, anytime you want.
KwikText's tree format lets you expand or collapse nodes to easily focus on specific types of bookmarks.
Drag from anywhere on a page: You can add bookmarks by dragging them into KwikText from the address bar or wherever else they exist on a web page. You don't have to navigate to the web page first. If a web page contains lots of links, you can drag just the links you want into KwikText.
KwikText automatically adds labels to web page links. You can edit the label, and add additional information like a tag, rating, or description, so you can find it easily in the future.
You can associate any of your other resources with your bookmarks. For example, you can have a link to a tutorial pop up when you open a specific software program.
Boolean search: You can search the current or all bookmarks files using symbols for Boolean AND and NOT.
You can access web pages by double-clicking on a bookmark. Or you can type one or more characters to locate the next matching link. Then press enter to open the page.
KwikText will open your default browser if it's not open when you select a link.
Temporary bookmarks: KwikText is great for short-term tasks, like searching for a product or vacation ideas. Not only can you store your searches, the search phrases themselves, and your results, but when you're done, you can delete or archive them all at once with a keystroke or two.
Password manager for websites + software programs: KwikText lets you store passwords for any website or software program that permits pasting. Click on the password in KwikText and paste (using Ctrl-V) wherever you want.
You can store anything else you might need for each website, like notes, answers to security questions, and serial numbers.
Save all passwords: You don't have to delete your old passwords. You can keep them along with the new ones. Makes it easy to change passwords.
You can organize your passwords and associated resources any way you like. They're stored in easy-to-edit plain text files.
KwikText files can be hidden, encrypted, and password-protected, using your favorite encryption software. They can also be stored on an encrypted flash drive that you can use when you travel.
You can search and sort all your passwords for easy comparisons, to find duplicates, or to see which passwords are associated with which sites.
KwikText includes a password generator that creates random character passwords composed of only the types of characters you select.
Master password manager: We all use some form of password management. KwikText can act as a master password manager. You can store every password you currently use as well as every password you've used in the past. You have complete control because everything is stored on your computer, not in the cloud or embedded in other software programs. If you temporarily lose access to your passwords, KwikText can serve as a backup.
KwikText lets you launch any application, whether it's on your hard drive, your network, or the Internet.
You can access software programs, utilities, files, folders, web pages, and even emails and text clips from a single interface.
All your material is stored in plain text files, in an outline format that you can easily edit, copy, email, or share in other ways. For example, you can share files if you want your team members to all use the same resources.
KwikText displays all your apps and related resources in a hierarchical tree structure. It reduces clutter and lets you focus on your current task.
Its hierarchical tree structure lets you associate any application with its folders, files, websites, and text clips. When you click to launch an application, its associated resources are all displayed, ready for you to use with a click or two.
Organize any way you want: You can organize applications and resources by project, task, category, sequence, dependencies, relationships, or simply because you want one resource to remind you of another. For example, if you organize a task by sequence, you'll never forget the next step.
For a project, associate it with a set of folders, files, software programs and emails.
For a website, associate old and new passwords, answers to security questions, and other notes.
For a complicated software program, like a photo editor, you can associate settings and tutorials with it.
You can categorize different types of software, like all your browsers, text editors, or troubleshooting programs.
KwikText is especially good for accessing rarely used apps or deeply nested folders because you can label them with tags or easy-to-remember descriptions. All resources are searchable using symbols for Boolean AND and NOT.
To acquire applications or resources, just drag and drop or copy and paste, from your computer or the Internet. They're easy to add to whatever category you choose.
Fast access: You can access applications or other resources by double-clicking or by typing. As you type, KwikText will find the closest match, which you can open by pressing Enter.
